Mother Of The Bride Survival Guide

Mother of the Bride Wedding & Hen Party Package Survival Guide

Wedding planning can be a special time for you and your mum. However, it can be an overwhelming and emotional experience when you're facing constant expectations and pressure to create the 'perfect' day. The moment you say 'I do' is such a proud one for your mother. Making sure she feels included during the preparations is important but can be tricky.

Here's the lowdown on the issues you may face during the wedding planning process and tips on how to keep both parties happy and sane!

1. Avoiding 'mumzilla' syndrome

Your mum may have dreamt about this important milestone since you were born and will probably go all out to create the 'perfect day' for you. However, your mum's idea of perfect can be a little different from your own and your fiance's! I know from experience that making a list and discussing the no-compromise decisions with your fiance should be top priority. To avoid any emotional upset and to ensure your mother is included it's important she's invited to the big events including the dress fitting or cake tasting sessions. Another way is to assign specific mother of the bride tasks and to utilise her unique talents such as asking her opinion on florists, wedding favours, etc.

2. Meet the parents

After the engagement has been announced, the next step is to introduce your parents to the future in-laws. This can be a nerve racking experience especially if they live hundreds of miles away from each other or you have to think carefully about family dynamics. For better or for worse, it's time to introduce the families! A casual lunch or eating out at a neutral location are both great ideas and help put everyone at ease. This way, the stress of playing host is taken away and everyone can relax and get to know each other.

3. Hen do Package

The idea of a big drunken rave on your hen night with your girlfriends could make your mum feel uneasy. Ask her to organise a second relaxing hen do for your the lovely ladies in your family and create some quality mother-daughter time. Fascinator making is a perfect opportunity for the ladies in your life to get creative and design some beautiful headpieces for the wedding day. Check out these relaxing spa hen party activities for a break from wedding planning hell! Chill out and enjoy some much needed pamper time in calm and sumptuous surroundings.

On the run up to Mother's Day it's important to remember your mum is your greatest supporter when it comes to wedding prep. She ultimately has your best interests at heart.
